Welcome to Wednesfield High School Website
Dear Parent/Carer,
Wednesfield High School is a Specialist Engineering College situated in the north east of Wolverhampton. We currently have around a 1000 students on roll including over 150 in the Sixth Form.
We provide a high quality education to meet the needs of all our pupils within a framework that is both supportive and challenging. The school is proud to be the host school for Wolverhampton City Learning Centre.
Our recent Ofsted inspection in April 2008 commented that:
‘Students themselves speak of the improvements with pride and show enjoyment in their learning’.
‘There is consistently good teaching , a relentless focus on tracking student performance and well chosen intervention strategies with students who are underperforming’.
‘In the past year, standards have risen significantly ,… particularly in GCSE English and Maths’.
‘There are shining examples of excellent assessment’.
‘Sixth form students contribute strongly to the life of the school and demonstrate confidence and maturity. ’
‘The curriculum is significantly advanced by the vocational provision made through Specialist Engineering Status.’
‘Students are well cared for and supported effectively within a well organised pastoral system.’
‘Wednesfield High School is an ambitious school’
We have always known that, and now Ofsted agree with us. Wednesfield High School Specialist Engineering College is committed to excellence, to continuing improvement and, equally importantly, to the care and well-being of our students. We want our students to enjoy coming to school and to feel part of our community. We want them to excel in their studies and take pride in belonging. We want to equip them with the tools and skills to prepare for the world outside. With this, our Latest Ofsted report, we feel we are achieving this.
This prospectus can only give a glimpse of the high standards of education that our school provides. Please come and look around the school and meet staff and students – just call to arrange a convenient time. I look forward to meeting you.
Miss Claire Evans.
